John’s Disciples Follow Jesus

John 1:35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” 37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” 39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon. Does this reflect your life as it did these men? Men who all it took was John to say simple words of there is the Lamb of God. That’s all it took for those men to just drop everything they were doing and start following Christ.  Matthew 4:19; where Jesus calls His first disciple Simon, Andrew, James, and John to follow Him. They were all just fisherman ordinary men, unschooled men, but Jesus says, “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people.” Yet they didn’t ask questions, they just got up and followed Him. They left their work there homes everything they knew behind. Matthew 8:22 and Luke 9:61 You see two men who tell Jesus what they want to do before following rather than what Jesus wants for our own good.  But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”  So Jesus makes it very clear who has priority. That He has priority and that what He wants/needs will always come before our wants and what we think we need. Jesus makes it very clear that we cannot follow Christ if we are looking back rather than forward on Him and His commands.  Allot of people struggle with this concept of following Christ and how it scares them that one day they might just have to drop there lives, there family, there, homes, there, jobs, etc. to follow Christ. Most people would say I Can’t, t just leave my wife, kids, and work behind and would God really do that? Well He just very might. I don’t think anyone will ever know what God just might do? We can sit around and argue well I think that what He’s talking about is…   But what we do Know is He has called us to follow Him no matter the cost. That we may trust Him with our lives at all those cost. Would you have thought God would told Abraham to Kill His son? Well He did? He may just calling us to see where are faith lies and just as Abraham stop us when we have proven that we will obey Him no matter how we feel about it.  A guy at a bible study, going over Crazy Love  and the question just like this “Could you up and leave everything without saying goodbye to anyone, without putting in a 2 weeks notice, quiet plainly just leaving to follow Christ in your calling?” Well like I said before God may not do that but then again He very well might. So what was his answer, “ I couldn’t just leave my family especially my son for who knows how long or if I’m even going to come back.” Well He is a Marine and my reply back was you have done it for yourself, for your command, for your country, but you cannot do it for your GOD? When you deploy you leave your son, your family, your lifestyle and you have no idea whether or not your coming back.  Jesus says not to think about tomorrow but today. Tomorrow has its own problems and we will deal with those plans of Gods tomorrow today deal with today. Tomorrow not a single one of us know whether or not we wake up again. Whether or not a car hits us, get in car crash, or what ever you want to put in the, what if game. I look at it like this; I can listen to my Calling and obey God, follow Christ and make our family bigger. Doing a greater thing than myself. For if I don’t listen to Christ I may miss out on my chance of living with our Father, I will definitely miss out on the blessings He has to offer. One the greatest blessings are to see another person become part of our family through Christ’s. That he lives deep within our hearts and that He goes straight to our hearts.  Now I have gotten myself into a tangent. Ok so if I don’t listen to Christ when He calls me because I say I don’t trust you God to take care of my family while I’m away. Because I’m afraid you wont take care of me and I wont ever see, hear, talk to my family again. Now God says fare well. Now God takes our last breath anyway (not saying he would) now my family is left without me anyway. I know God has given me a partner, a partner who is of one flesh. God has given me a daughter and a son, which have been a great blessing in my life. When God calls us away we are still part of our family. I am still the head of my household. I’m still the role model for my kids to emulate and it is my pleasure to do everything it takes to submit and have Jesus Christ my savior be my biggest and most important role model ever. So that my kids may learn from me but there not learning from me but of God. In todays society no matter where you go (for the most part) there is Internet, cell phones, or some way to reach your loved ones so God will keep you in contact with your family. He wont take you from your family completely. Grace is a hard thing to learn and understand. But when you do learn to live by grace you will see incredible changes in your life.

My prayer that we all can learn and understand Grace. That we learn to completely surrender ourselves. Not for ourselves but for the ones around us to see us as a light. Not of our own light but the Light of Jesus Christ. That they don’t see us but Christ Himself. I pray that each and every one of us as followers can carry that cross till the end. That we may united together make a better world for tomorrow. In the name of the King of kings, Lord of lords, All powerful, All mighty I AM the one who was in the beginning, who was the word, who was with God, and Was God, who was and is our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
